Shirley from Reading in Berkshire was 56 yeas old when she died of pneumonia on Sunday 22nd February
1998.She was a much loved wife, mother and grandmother, Shirley came from a large family.
Shirley was always game for a laugh and despite being in a wheel chair for the last few years of her
life she never let anything get her down. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!
Shirley spent a long spell in hospital. Firstly at the Royal Berks in Reading then in St Georges in
Tooting, London and then back to the Royal Berks. Shirley always liked a busy house and the noises
that went with having 7 children and enough grandchildren to start a football team or 2.
After many years of suffering with arthritis and weeks of fighting against pneumonia, Shirley
decided she'd had enough and she told us. She left us as she would have wanted, with all of her
family close by.
Shirley wasn't taken from us, she decided to leave her painful life and go to a place where she
wouldn't suffer anymore.
Some people find the words 'i love you' hard to say but Shirley's husband Keith
proved his love by looking after her for many years after she was diagnosed with arthritis.
We will always remember the Shirley who loved to dance, drink and go riding in shopping trolleys.

...Gently...

Gently the rose petals fall

Being carried off from the floor

Dropping one by one

Until away a breeze softly carries them all

You where the same

We watched you

Our whole lives through

Being strong and brave

A rock to lean on

A person to talk to

A person to laugh with

A person to cry with

Until the day came

When we had to watch you pass away

We did not want to

It should not have happened the way it did

But the lord wanted you

And we could not stand in the way

So gently a wind came

It carried you up above

To a place where there is neverending life and love

So remember those who love you so much

When our time comes

We look forward to seeing you standing in the light

With an endless supply of love

The Love that Angel we miss so much
